It's all behind you. The town, the people, their judgmental stares, their ostracization. They never made you feel as if you belonged, and at the same time, never made you feel like you could leave. You lived in a strange limbo that you only noticed now that you have broken free of it. You are filled with mixed feelings. You have turned your back on all that you know, run off with not only a stranger but a creature said to be a monster, and yet you feel strangely calm. Content. Free. You wake in a cave on the beach. The creature is nowhere to be seen, but there is a freshly tended campfire burning in front of you. You are not worried. You know that he will return, and you find yourself smiling when you hear footsteps on the sand growing closer...
