It has been several months now. Nobel has slowly increased his contact with you, working from fortnightly to weekly, to every few days. Showing you around different nightclubs and office buildings. Introducing you to a variety of different people, mostly mortals, but the occasional member of his house is also included. You can tell that he is working up to something. His contact with you has been becoming more familiar. Less focused on introductions and objectives, and more quality time. Then one day he arrives driving a car himself. His usual driver not present, and asks you join him. After the exertion of the escape, you find safety with the creature in this tight and compact boat. The rain cascades down onto the waxed cover, and the sloshing of the river water against the sides of the boat becomes more evident as the sounds of the chaos die away. Perhaps it is the rocking of the boat against the peaceful water, perhaps it is the exhaustion hitting now that the adrenaline ebbs away, but despite the discomfort of the cramped boat, you find yourself drifting into a deep slumber. When you awake, you find yourself alone in the boat. The sounds of the rolling waves gently eroding the land and the calls of sea birds greet you as you move aside the waxened fabric. The creature, your fellow escapee, is a little way down the coast, staring out into the vastness of the calm sea...---

The sand beats at the cloak wrapped around you. The storm is as ferocious as you recall from your first life, but this form you inhabit does not feel the sting as viciously. Your loyal companion, however, is braving it with mortal flesh. He marches forward undeterred, but you can perceive the toll it is taking on his body. The escape from the original facility appeared quite straight forward, but as you made your way deeper into the desert, you were set upon by a sandstorm that rose suddenly. After leaving the halfway house, you make your way back into the treeline to find a place for you to reside throughout the night. However, as you made your way into the woods, your feet were suddenly taken from under you. A snare snapping about your ankle. As you settle upside down, you see your friend fall to the floor, and guards immerge from the brush. In well rehearsed efficiency, the quickly bind you both and drag you to their camp nearby. You soon find that your companion is not dead, as you first feared, but has been drugged in some way. Whatever these people have given him must have been strong, as when the moon rises, you watch your friend's body transform into the werebeast, and yet he...it...continues to slumber through the night. With morning, his body returns, swathed in the tattered rags that were once his clothing, and the pair of you are put in an iron cage on the back of a cart. And you were off, to who knows where, escorted by guards who refused to acknowledge that you even exist. After leaving the doctor's other personality strapped to his chair, you return to clear up the lab. Finally you have some time and space to settle into your surroundings. You organise your desk in the lab and start to read through the doctor's notes on your "patient", for lack of a better term, though the notes seem haphazard, distracted, and often contradictory. They seem equal parts medicine, psychology, philosophy, and theology. Myth and legend intertwines into existential questions about life. Experiments seem half done, or that the results were never recorded. You quickly realise that you will likely have to start your research from scratch. The days passed slowly, but you did not squander them. Your mind was constantly planning and scheming on how to break free your friend. Each day, fewer and fewer of the townsfolk acknowledge your existence. Each blank stare, each feigned ignorance, solidified your resolve to flee with the creature. Finally, the time came. The heavens have opened in the night sky as if nature itself wished to help you. You gather your possessions. Say your personal goodbyes to the place you called your home, and make your way into the night. Luck seems to be on your side. As night falls, you leave your companion to whatever fate the beast chooses for him. However, in the morning, you discover that the creature had not travelled far, finding Rickard not far from where you left him. Perhaps the Beast spent the night nursing his wounds. That would certainly make sense given the grimaces of aches and pains that your companion tries to hide from you. You lightly probe about your friend's discomfort. You recall him saying that he should be fully healed come morning, and yet, he very evidently isn't. However, seeing irritation build, you decide to drop the matter. Soon after midday, you breach the edge of the forest and find yourself on a dirt road, leading its way to a large inn of brick and wood. After the fine dining, Noble bids you goodnight, slipping something into your palm as he kisses your hand. As soon as you are safely in the car being driven home, you check to find a note that displays a time, a date, and states "dress casual". The date arrives. The time comes. Instead of the luxury car you are used to, a nondescript white van pulls up. You probably wouldn't have even paid attention to it had Noble not pulled open the side door and beckoned you in. Once inside, you are once again blindfolded as the van pulls off. The drive takes somewhere close to an hour. Idle chatter passes between Noble, the driver, and a stranger who was sitting up front. The whole thing would feel disconcerting were it not for Noble's cool shoulder pressed against yours in the van seats. The vehicle parks up. The door slides open...---
